Exploration Targets

Thor Exploration Targets

There are a variety of exploration targets that exists outside of the main Resource arera at Thor, and these will provide additional tonnage for the Thor deposit. Some of these targets are gold-rich, making them particularly attractive to move into NI 43-101 as they would allow a quick return on any production investment.

The Foundation of Our Business

Rocks can be"Big-Business" and it is important to be able to understand what they tell us. They host all of the metals that we use in everyday life, include gold, silver, copper lead and zinc. To find out more information about Taranis, click on the View Page.

The Quest & Remote Places

Ore deposits have been sought for thousands of years, and the most obvious deposits have been already mined-out. The quest for these deposits takes us to places that are remote. To find out more infomation on our Thor Project, click on the View Page.

The Reward!

It is still possible to find gold, silver and other metals near surface provided you have all the "right stuff". The deposits need to be trenched and drilled to develop the mineral occurrences into Resources. To find out about the Resource Taranis has developed at Thor, click on the View Page.

Experience

Many ore deposits are no longer found using the traditional prospecting methods, and require an indepth knowledge of not only geology, but other sciences including geophysics, computer science and geochemistry. To find out more infomation on our Directors, click on the View Page.

The Single Tree in the Forest

Exploration is essentially seeing through the Forest and finding a valuable tree. Sometimes the tree cannot be seen with the naked eye and requires technology that was not available to old-time prospectors. To find out how we use geophysics in Finland, click on the View Page.

Drill Baby, Drill

It is almost impossible to build a valuable Resource without using diamond drills. Diamond drilling is costly, and when done correctly it can be used to build an NI 43-101 Resource of valuable metals in the ground. To find out how we used drills to build a +1 M tonne Resource at Thor, click on the View Page.

Separating Fact & Fiction

Once a promising deposit of metals is found, it is necessary to evaluate the ability to be able to recover these metals out of the ground. There are many means to refine and concentrate ore, including gravity separation, and flotation. To find out about the recent metallurgical work at Thor, click on the View Page.

Focused Exploration

One of the main criticism of junior exploration companies by the public is the lack of focus to develop Resources on a Property. To discover more on the Resource at Thor, click on the View Page.

NI 43-101 Resources

The objective of any exploration program should be the discovery and the identification of Mineral Resources that can ultimately be classified into an NI 43-101 Resource, and ultimately mined to the benefit of the economy and the company's shareholders. To find out more information about Taranis, click on the View Page.

Where People Meet Challenges

Exploration is a capital intensive business, and it involves a lot of problem solving to find solutions to problems to test and evaluate the potential of an exploration property. To find out more information about our Directors, click on the View Page.

Under that Landscape is Risk

Under all the beautiful landscapes and the setting sun, lies Risk! The prudent junior mining company learns how to manage risk carefully, and not casue excessive dilution to the shareholders of the company. To find out more information about our share capital, click on the View Page.

The Tools

Exploration involves using a "toolbox" of equipment, each tool tailored to accomplish a specific objective in the exploration program. They can range from a hand-lens to an excavator, each looking to find an ore deposit. To see some images in our Gallery, click on the View Page.

The News Contrail

Exploration involves getting your hands dirty to find the answers to the questions that guide the exploration directive, and this information needs to get publicised to inform shareholders of our progress. To find out more information about News Releases, click on the View Page.

Targets Outside of the NI 43-101 Resource Area

Thor Exploration Targets

The RPA estimate does not include all of the known mineralized zones at Thor. There are other known targets that require drilling and and additional exploration and include:

    • Scab Zone – 300 m by 200 m area between the True Fissure and Blue Bell Zones that can only be drilled with a small, portable drill and includes the Water Box Zone (5 samples averaging 4.60 g/t Au, 535 g/t Ag, 0.27% Cu, 8.92% Pb and 4.38% Zn), the Back-Breaker Zone (0.41 g/t Au, 198 g/t Ag, 0.14% Cu, 5.63% Pb, 9.42% Zn, the Galena Pocket Zone (3 samples averaging 3.53 g/t Au, 182 g/t Ag, 0.22 % Cu, 12.42 % Pb and 8.25% Zn) and the Ridgeline Section (10 samples averaging 0.15 g/t Au, 69 g/t Ag, 0.01% Cu, 1.30% Pb and 0.03% Zn). (See Taranis News Release dated October 29, 2007)
    • SIF Zone – A separate high-grade gold zone (average 7 samples of 27.5 g/t Au, and 18 g/t Ag) in outcrop and float (See Taranis News Release dated August 30, 2012)
    • Gold Pit to Bunker Zone - Average of four samples in the Gold Pit Zone averaging 33.7 g/t Au, 2,516 g/t Ag extending 200 m north along a strong geophysical conductor to the Bunker Zone where sampling averaged 2.15 g/t Au and 145 g/t Ag in 31 samples. This zone may extend over 1.2 km northwest to a prevalent gossan called the Mega-Gossan.
    • Antiform Zone – 15 grab samples located west of the existing Resource that was sampled in 2012 (See Taranis News Release dated September 18, 2012) that averaged 2.06 g/t Au and 63 g/t Ag.
    • Ridge Target – A new zone (2012) extending north of an existing deposit that was exposed in DDH Thor-110 (9.14 m true thickness of 0.3 g/t Au, 50 g/t Ag, 0.2% Pb and 1.5% Zn). This same target is exposed again 2 km north where surface sampling in float uncovered up to 0.60 g/t Au in cherty, gossaneous rocks in float on the north side of the Ridge target.

SIF

In the summer of 2012, Taranis discovered an outcrop located west of the existing sulphide deposit that had visbile gold within quartz. This area was extensively sampled in the summer of 2013 and demonstrated wide-spread gold mineralizaiton within the outcorp.

Scab Zone

The Scab Zone occurs north of the True Fissure deposit and south of the Blue Bell Mine. It is in the center of the known Thor deposit, but cannot be drilled owing to topographic issues and the nature of the outcrop in the area. Special drills are being examined that will allow Taranis to drill the area, and add it to the NI 43-101 Resource.

Ridge

Arguably the target with the largest tonnage potential, the Ridge Target is the northwest extension of the Blue Bell Deposit under a large hill north of the existing Resource Area. Drilling in this area has shown the presence of a stacked sulphide horizon that plungest northwest under the hill.

West Limb

One of the most intriguing targets on the Thor Property, is the folded repetition of the Combined Metals Unit on the West limb of the Thor Antiform. While there has not been an outcrop discovered that is mineralized along this contact, there have been many pieces o highly mineralized piece of float, and some geophysical and geochemical targets that suggest this contact could be mineralized. If this limb is found to be mineralized, it will add a very large dimension to the additional tonnage possibilities at Thor.
